Can this be my first blog?
Wait, what?Today, I turned on the radio while cooking lunch and accidentally heard Pink’s new song “So What?”. After a couple hours, I found myself with that song stuck in my head… Don’t get me wrong… not that I like Pink, I hate the little bitch, but her stupid song found its way to my brain and stayed there.
That got me thinking of my high school years, sitting at my desk with those big thick history books, forcing myself to memorize pages 157-1163, for the next day exam. I remember the frustration of memorizing things that where right off my brain the moment I finished the test, yet, today, I’m stuck with this useless song in my head. So, why was it so hard to memorize who was Costa Rica’s first president or when did the First World War start and why, when I can hear a song once and memorize it immediately?
Here is a thought: we should make teachers write songs about history and social sciences for our pop stars, that way, teachers can make extra money, kids will memorize important facts and the so called “pop artists” will finally have something to say. Great!
